Technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Anton Independent School District provides access to a variety of technology resources to support student learning and the educational mission of the district. These resources include, but are not limited to, computers, laptops, tablets, internet access, and other electronic devices. The purpose of this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is to outline the appropriate use of these resources and to ensure that all users understand their responsibilities in maintaining a safe, secure, and productive learning environment.
General Guidelines
Respect Others
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are expected to respect the privacy and dignity of others. Any behavior that is harassing, threatening, or otherwise disrespectful to others will not be tolerated.
Protect the Network
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are responsible for protecting the district's network and equipment from damage, viruses, and other malicious software. Any attempt to access or alter data or files without authorization is strictly prohibited.
Use Resources Responsibly
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are expected to use these resources responsibly and for educational purposes only. Any use that is not related to academic activities, including gaming, social media, or personal email, is prohibited.
Protect Personal Information
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are responsible for protecting their own personal information and the personal information of others. Passwords are NOT to be shared. Any attempt to access or share personal information without authorization is strictly prohibited.
Report Misuse
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are expected to report any misuse or abuse of technology resources to the appropriate district personnel. This includes reporting any suspected violations of this AUP.
Follow All Policies and Procedures
All users of Anton ISD technology resources are expected to comply with all district policies and procedures, including this AUP, as well as all federal, state, and local laws.
Network Filtering & Student Safety
Anton ISD utilizes network filtering technology to help keep our students safe while using technology resources. This technology is designed to block access to inappropriate content and to provide a safer online learning environment. However, no filtering technology is perfect, and it is possible that some inappropriate content may slip through. It is the responsibility of all users to report any inappropriate content or online behavior to the appropriate district personnel.
All users of Anton ISD technology resources must also follow these guidelines:
Do not attempt to bypass the network filters or access blocked content.
Do not share personal information or engage in inappropriate online behavior, including cyberbullying, harassment, or sharing inappropriate images or messages.
If you encounter inappropriate content, close the browser immediately and report the incident to the appropriate district personnel.
If you have questions about appropriate online behavior or content, talk to your teacher or a district technology specialist.
Consequences of Violations
Anton ISD takes the safety and security of our students seriously. Any violation of these guidelines may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination of technology access privileges, suspension or expulsion from school, and/or legal action. This includes misuse of technology resources both on and off campus. Misuse of district technology resources outside of school hours or off school premises may also result in disciplinary action if it impacts the school environment or the safety and well-being of students or staff.
Conclusion
By using Anton ISD technology resources, all users acknowledge their understanding of and agreement to comply with this AUP. Anton ISD reserves the right to modify this policy at any time.
